OpenAI, of which almost 50% of shares are owned by Microsoft Inc., now partners with Axel Springer, Germany's media company to foster their language models with the media's article database.
This is truly impactful and the AI doomers and people who undervalued/isolated LLM/generative AI should obviously change their mind.
It recently triggered the disputes between Hollywood actors and its management incumbent, plus in various field (artist, musician, cartoon artist, illustrators) the hostility against AIs appeared and I myself also was one of the doomers who was intimidated by auto generated code (of high quality) can oust my current position as an engineer.
The AI itself enhances multiple technologies (i.e. Deep Learning) and since the world is too complex that in my view nobody can precisely predict what is actually going to happen in next few years or next decades.
As of now, GitHub copilot and similar services are not going to challenge engineers but it supports them, rather than punishing them. I cannot oversimplify the current movement but roughly speaking it benefits many people of status quo (at least in IT industry).
Such that the conclusion is we need to coexist. If any workers of any field reject this, it is going to be pretty tough for them. Same as newspapers or media companies. OpenAI now gained access to the media articles and it is now going to provide more reliable sources.
Yet still the downside of such service is you only can get what you asked for. It means this is much more advanced form of search engine, you can query what you want to ask but its downside is too neutral sometimes (sometimes you want to get opinions on specific ideological views, even though it is biased) plus such "you get only what you queried" can blockade access to the information or viewpoint which user never know or avoid intentionally, such that, as well as the status quo SNS services, it definitely has downside and people still need the old school news interface.
