Axel Springer provides its article data to OpenAPI

OpenAI, of which almost 50% of shares are owned by Microsoft Inc., now partners with Axel Springer, Germany's media company to foster their language models with the media's article database.

This is truly impactful and the AI doomers and people who undervalued/isolated LLM/generative AI should obviously change their mind.

It recently triggered the disputes between Hollywood actors and its management incumbent, plus in various field (artist, musician, cartoon artist, illustrators) the hostility against AIs appeared and I myself also was one of the doomers who was intimidated by auto generated code (of high quality) can oust my current position as an engineer.

The AI itself enhances multiple technologies (i.e. Deep Learning) and since the world is too complex that in my view nobody can precisely predict what is actually going to happen in next few years or next decades.

As of now, GitHub copilot and similar services are not going to challenge engineers but it supports them, rather than punishing them. I cannot oversimplify the current movement but roughly speaking it benefits many people of status quo (at least in IT industry).

Such that the conclusion is we need to coexist. If any workers of any field reject this, it is going to be pretty tough for them. Same as newspapers or media companies. OpenAI now gained access to the media articles and it is now going to provide more reliable sources.

Yet still the downside of such service is you only can get what you asked for. It means this is much more advanced form of search engine, you can query what you want to ask but its downside is too neutral sometimes (sometimes you want to get opinions on specific ideological views, even though it is biased) plus such "you get only what you queried" can blockade access to the information or viewpoint which user never know or avoid intentionally, such that, as well as the status quo SNS services, it definitely has downside and people still need the old school news interface.

For recruiters: Guideline [10 commandments]

Hi, my name is Kei Sugano.

For my details, please refer to here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kei-sugano-0468b9a9/

Here is the guideline how to contact me, for any agents.
(*keep in mind: this is not to criticize you personally but my conclusion as a result of thousands of agents contact me, so this is not directed to you. But please remember I have rule below)

[update: if you sent the job details via email to me and i replied i'm interested, i think 99% of you guys can forget the below](since most agents are good people)

1. I do not accept any phone calls or zoom sessions, unless I am interested in what you bring.

2. I hate long conversations.

3. Please do not bring what you/your company want to bring. Don't try to persuade me. Please bring me exactly what I am looking for, which is precisely stated in [4].

4. I am looking for
 (1) freelance opportunity with minimum 900,000 JPY per month. This is of the gyomu-itaku position. or
(2) Purely foreign company which has no branch in Japan (or branch is too infant so they cannot hire me as regular employee). In that case, I expect 10,000,000 JPY at least annually.
This is the minimum requirement. ("You negotiate it during the interview" kind of stuff is not accepted.)

5. I have no duty to explain why I don't like what you bring because I owe you nothing.

6. Please minimize the information I have to have a look. I hate frequent contacts. I am working. I want the Job Description with simple question whether I like it or not. Please get it simple.

7. I only want to contact with polite people. If he tries to behave like my boss or show being offended when I say "NO", then you (and your company) are blacklisted.

8. Do not make me rush. I hate the logic "If you don't rush, the opportunity goes away". Again, I owe you nothing and I have a job, you use my time. Please keep in mind.

9. Some agents bring me company once I rejected. Please don't make me eat what I vomited earlier. It is nothing but terrible.

10. You should have minimum IT/technical knowledge and interest if you contact me. I don't want to generalize too much but those people who have almost no attitude to learn those is very tough to communicate with.

Sorry for bunch of negative statements but I really want to filter out people who I don't want to contact with.

If you agree with the above rules, we are friends ;)

Thanks,

Kei
